Motherhood // Freya is One

July 16, 2020

The fastest, most incredible year of our lives. Hard at times, for sure, but also more magical than we ever could have imagined. Our sweet funny little Chopsy girl turned one at the start of this month and we couldn't love her more.

Some photos from her party and special weekend a couple of weeks ago that I wanted to have on here and you all know by now how much I love to decorate for a Birthday... I had lots of fun choosing an animal theme with little party hats on as a nod to her favourite Elephant in her room with a crown on.

{including some photos from a gifted shoot by the talented Abbie Wyatt Photography who I couldn't recommend more, she was just so lovely with Freya and got these special photos of us with Freya that I'll treasure forever, anyone with a baby this age knows how hard it is to get photos of wriggly little bubs! - I donated to both Tommy's & Refuge, two charities that I now donate to in exchange for any gifts/PR samples}

Nope, not into crown wearing!

A mini cake smash, we used Georgie's recipe online here - although she didn't love it as much as I thought she would?!

We had a little party on the Sunday and then went to the zoo for her actual birthday - although it was freezing! Damn British unpredictable summertime.

Teepee fun at my parent's the next day

Garden cuttings for little jars.

A brunch feast, we did ham & cheese croissants, smoked salmon cream cheese bagels, a big veggie frittata, sausages and tomatoes - pretty much all of Freya's favourite foods! But mainly it was allll about the cake and fruit.

We finished her Ikea Play kitchen {full DIY hack online here}

We spread out the cards and gifts over a few days, just one at a time to not cause overwhelm and so she could look at/appreciate each gift properly.

Sneaking off just us two for a snuggly pre nap feed, and for this mama to feel SO emotional thinking back to this time a year ago. I spent a couple of evenings writing Freya a letter about this first year of motherhood, and I loved reading back through my birth story and reliving it all - it's just insane how much they can change in a year and really how fast it all went.

My talented friend F made these cupcakes.

Such a lucky little one

Reading cards in bed.

A beautiful cherry tree gift from our close friend's who have a baby the same age, the idea is that when the cherries start to form she'll know her birthday is near! Can't wait to plant this somewhere special and watch it grow as she does.

A real highlight of her party was sharing her One Second Everyday film, everybody cried!

Birthday pancakes!
