{I first wrote this for Rock my Style a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to leave my bulb planting until the end of October as so many of my flowers are still blooming in the tubs at the moment, but you can plant bulbs anytime from now up until mid November so whenever you have a spare weekend.}

Hello to the weekend. We've been down in Cornwall this week {I was on a press trip for So You're Getting Married} and got back yesterday so Friday has come around super fast. I'll be blogging about the trip over the next couple of weeks on both SYGM and here. How has your week been? Ours was all boats and beaches at the start of the week, I do love Cornwall. But since we've been back, it's nice to get into Autumn again. Cornwall doesn't really 'do' seasons. This weather is gorgeous though and looks like it's going on for the next week! Happy autumn sunny, sunny days. Hope you have a good weekend, I'll be back blogging properly on here very soon {these past few weeks with going away a lot take their toll on my spare time}. In the mean time, this weekend I have eight of my best friends coming over for a dinner party tomorrow night. We take it in turns to host. So I'm busy getting sorted for that {just making two biggg lasagnes, one meat, one veggie with a green salad and then some yummy puds. Sticky toffee and planning to use these pears for a chocolate pudding.} and also it's our Nephew's 4th Birthday and there's a family gathering on my side of the family. Busy busy but hopefully we'll get some chill out time too, if it's cold enough we might even light our first fire of the year. Catch up again soon, R <3 xx

Hello Friday! How has your week been? For me it has flown by, back home and trying to get caught up with everything {emails, blog posts, meetings in London, cleaning, washing, gardening, seeing family/friends, pilates, running, spinning, allotment picking} before we go away again on Monday! This time it's a work trip to Cornwall which I'm looking forward to, can't beat the Cornish seaside, but it's exhausting trying to unpack and repack so much {talking of which, I posted my packing guide on SYGM earlier in the week}. Of course I don't expect any sympathy and I feel very grateful for all these exciting trips.

On another note, Autumn feels like it's well and truly set in this week, the changing leaves, the light, the chilly dark nights and the garden is transitioning. I thought I would be sad that summer's over but I'm loving wearing knitwear again and putting wellies on for walks with the pup! I always say how I love the weather up until Christmas, after that I hate the cold and get sick of my jumpers. Planning to blog some of my favourite purchases for Autumn soon. I'm also over on Rock my Style this afternoon talking about planting bulbs ready for the Spring.

What do you have planned this weekend? I'm off out to our favourite pub with some girls this evening before a lazy-ish day tomorrow {with a reformer pilates class thrown in for good measure, I'm addicted} and then dinner in Berkhamsted on Sunday before my brother goes back to uni next week, sobs! One of the things that I get asked a lot on Instagram is how to dry hydrangeas. I love the colours as they start to dry at this time of year, deep dusky pinks as their petals lose their moisture and turn all papery. If you dry them successfully, they can last for years and make an everlasting floral display.

I can't believe that I've been writing this blog for over a year already. It has flown by. After years of indecision about whether to start one or not, I'm glad that I finally took the plunge at the end of last August. For a start, the feedback from so many of you has been amazing, especially when people request posts from little old me! I never imagined how popular it would become in such a short space of time, in just one year it's been featured in an article in the Daily Mail and been linked to by Rock my Style on a few occasions. But crucially I've really enjoyed have a space of my own to document our house renovations, travel adventures, wedding projects, memorable days out and some of my favourite recipes. If you hadn't guessed already, I love photography and I can't bombard Instagram and Facebook with all my snaps so this is really a place to house them all.

As I said a few weeks back, I feel like I went crazy with the blog at the start, blogging every day to catch up on years worth of content that I wanted to post. Since then I've slowed it down a lot, partly because most things are now documented but also because I need more a life balance. This is just a hobby, not my job. I work for So You're Getting Married, an award winning wedding blog - which has been one of the best things that happened to me in the past year. So that takes up part of my time but also I don't want to be glued to a computer too much. Life is for living. So while I still absolutely love checking in here as much as possible, it won't be everyday. That being said, the autumn and winter are coming up with dark evenings that make cosying up with a laptop much more appealing than long summer nights where you just want to be outside. I'd like to keep up with blogging our travel adventures and days out as well as more of my favourite recipes and house/garden projects. Plus anything that I find particularly inspiring.

I have a constant inner battle with myself about putting so much of my personal life out on the internet though. Partly I love it, I'm obsessed with Instagram of course and love sharing photos. That I'm ok with, although I don't share everything - far from it. And I've had the odd comment from people that my life is perfect or that all of this sharing is a form of showing off. I really do love my life {but life is what you make it, everybody should love their life}, but I have an issue with others comparing themselves to me based on what I post on social media. Everybody has their ups and downs, battles their fighting, highs and lows. I don't post photos of the boring parts of life because nobody wants to see that. I like to focus on the positives and share things that make me happy. I post because I love sharing photos with others and want to look back on it all on a rainy day.
