Merry Christmas! I'm sat writing this in front of the fire and the sparkly lights of the tree as it's just getting dark outside. There are just 2 more sleeps to go, the food shopping's done, the presents are wrapped, the ham is cooked and we've finished the first tub of celebrations. It really is my favourite time of the year and to top it off, a couple of weeks back we had the heaviest snowfall we've had in years! I couldn't let Christmas pass by without posting some photos of the couple of magical, wintry days we had to look back upon. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

Ben & I always take a mini break around December or January, usually it's just after New Year but this year we decided to go pre-Christmas instead and chose the Cotswolds. We love this part of the world and at this time of year it's full of Christmas cheer. The houses seem to go all out with really beautiful wreaths and decorations and with the recent snowfall it was even more wintery and picturesque than we expected. We visited most of our old favourite haunts, with lunch at Daylesford, a wander around pretty Cotswolds villages and Burford Garden centre but also had the added bonus of our Soho House membership coming through the week before which meant we could stop off at Soho Farmhouse on the way there and back. But the icing on the cake was a stay at a new discovery, a stylish boutique hotel called The Painswick. Photos below if you'd like to see.

It's Christmas! I look forward to this time of year so much for the real quality time spent with family, the food {!}, the days that blur into one and the magic that you can just *feel* with all the excitement around. I love hosting, and this year is the first year in our new house that we have a finished kitchen. This time last year the diggers were in ripping down the back of our house so this year feels like such a treat to be able to have everybody round. Every year, my Mum & I plan out our Christmas food practically before December has even begun, looking through all the food to order catalogues, and no word of a lie, we plan a morning of food shopping at M&S into our diaries for one of the last weeks before Christmas to stock up on all that we need. So when M&S asked me to share how I'd host Christmas, I jumped at the chance. After all, this is how I would actually host Christmas. And Saturday was the perfect opportunity for a practice run before the big day. We're spending the day itself at my parent's as always but have a couple of other big occasions at ours, as well as this weekend just gone with both of our parents over for the first of the turkey dinner's this season! I'd love to share some tips on how to make hosting stress-free;

I expect by now that you all know what a flower addict I am? From growing them {on a very small scale} in my garden and on our allotment to displaying them year round in the house, changing with the seasons and photographing lots along the way. I have a pipe dream of one day owning a huge flower farm where I'd spend my days planting and picking, creating huge displays and letting people come and pick their own. I guess flowers are my version of escapism, whatever is going on in life, if you have something cheery to look at and brighten a grey day then they've done their job, if they're scented then all the better. They add colour and interest, I've long said how I use flowers almost like cushions to change the feel of a room and update it with temporary colour, something I won't get sick of compared to painting the walls. And whilst I love getting creative with wreath making and going to the flower markets to choose my own, I'm really no expert when it comes to creating displays or knowing what goes with what. You can always pass off your own as a 'rustic thrown together mix' but then you receive a really beautiful, proper bunch and you remember just how incredible they can look when done professionally. And for me, there's nothing that takes my breath away more than receiving a bouquet from The Real Flower Company.

Christmas is upon us and one of my favourite traditions each year is to make a festive fresh wreath with my Mum. For the past few years we've returned to my wedding florist Charlie at The Flower Fairies to learn how to create something beautiful at her workshops and whilst we've loved the frosty Saturday mornings driving to the Cotswolds to her gorgeous studio, this year our calendar is pretty packed so we decided to make our own at home. After three year's of Charlie's fab workshops I feel like we've gained enough knowledge to 'graduate' and use the knowledge to go freestyle and we were both so pleased with the result. Lots of you on Instagram asked for a DIY guide so I thought I'd put one together if creativity strikes this weekend and you feel like making something pretty to adorn your front door.
