Christmas // Winter Blooms and Wreaths {for non-DIYers} with The Real Flower Company

December 04, 2017

I expect by now that you all know what a flower addict I am? From growing them {on a very small scale} in my garden and on our allotment to displaying them year round in the house, changing with the seasons and photographing lots along the way. I have a pipe dream of one day owning a huge flower farm where I'd spend my days planting and picking, creating huge displays and letting people come and pick their own. I guess flowers are my version of escapism, whatever is going on in life, if you have something cheery to look at and brighten a grey day then they've done their job, if they're scented then all the better. They add colour and interest, I've long said how I use flowers almost like cushions to change the feel of a room and update it with temporary colour, something I won't get sick of compared to painting the walls. And whilst I love getting creative with wreath making and going to the flower markets to choose my own, I'm really no expert when it comes to creating displays or knowing what goes with what. You can always pass off your own as a 'rustic thrown together mix' but then you receive a really beautiful, proper bunch and you remember just how incredible they can look when done professionally. And for me, there's nothing that takes my breath away more than receiving a bouquet from The Real Flower Company.

Their work is stunning yet their message powerful. They aim to be sustainable, growing as much as they can in England on their two farms {which I'm hoping to go and visit for inspiration next year} and at this time of year, when we're tilted far away from the sun, they turn to their two sustainable farms in Kenya which are fairtrade and have as lower carbon footprint as they possibly can. They select most of their flowers for scent, that old fashioned rose smell that takes you right back to summer but I also love the variety in each bouquet.

I'm a big fan of decking the halls with fresh greenery for Christmas and last week two beautiful deliveries arrived {in their trademark green boxes with silk ribbon for the kind of arrival that your flowers deserve}. The first, a citrus & spice wreath, all blossomy and green filled with ivy and eucalyptus along with pretty pink pepper berries and oranges finished with a voluptuous bow. It's perfect for our pink boot room door. If you don't want to try your hand at creating your own then you really won't find anything better than this.

Secondly, this wintry white Nordic bouquet which both smells and looks amazing in equal measure.

With the flower food provided, and if you chop diagonally at the stems, it should last for a good two weeks {they're guaranteed for 5 days but I've found them to always last a lot longer}. My last bouquet in the summer lasted for almost a month, I just took out any flowers that looked a bit past it but most started to dry beautifully. It would make for a dreamy gift if you're going anywhere this Christmas or like me, just perfect to add to your decorations.

There's eucalyptus, fresh roses, anemones, olive leaves {which I adore}, wax flowers and birch branches to name a few. All hand tied for a really special bouquet.

But I also adore this Nordic wreath {heart eyes!}. And this dreamy garland.

Are you a floral fan? I hope to be able to show you photos from their flower farm in late Spring. And who knows, maybe one day I'll be running something small!
