Gah, Western Australia is just a total dream. We first visited for just five short days, a stop off before an East coast adventure, a couple of years back to visit Ben's uncle and didn't really know much about it. Of course, we fell in love with it and as much as we loved the East Coast, we really regretted not spending more time there. It's a completely different pace to the main touristy parts of Australia that you might think about visiting. We thought of that dream spot in Dunsborough - three hours south of Perth near the Margaret River area - where his uncle is based often, and knew we'd love to return someday. It just had everything you could want from a relaxing holiday spot, miles of the most beautiful beaches we've ever seen yet hardly any people to share them with, on the whole really stable sunny weather with bigggg blue cloudless skies, you don't get the humidity or tropical storms like you do around the rest of the country, incredible vineyards, enough to do without it being overwhelming, amazing brunch spots, quiet roads, free parking, long walks along the coast. Their summer also happens to be our winter so we plotted to return someday pretty much as soon as we boarded the plane from Perth to Sydney! This January we decided to spend three weeks on the West Coast this time and it was one of the best trips we've ever had, to the point where we talked almost daily about how we could get a visa and move there as it was the dreamiest lifestyle ever

The final destination on our Australian adventure... tropical Noosa in Queensland. As I've mentioned before, we hadn't planned to visit Noosa originally, instead we'd have had a whole week to really 'live' in Byron Bay. But after talking to lots of people who had recently been to Australia, they all said that we absolutely couldn't miss Noosa and how it would feel a bit more up-market than hippy Byron. A true holiday destination. I must admit, we were slightly worried the whole time that we'd made the right decision and even the day we were leaving Byron I was hoping that it would live up to expectations because I'd have quite happily had a few more days in that dreamy town. But rest assured, Noosa ended up being a real highlight of the trip and the perfect way to end our time Down Under.

This photo to me, pretty much sums up our few days in Byron Bay, it's probably the most relaxed place in Australia and it was somewhere I'd wanted to return to since I first visited ten years back. Full of surfers with a hippy alternative vibe, beautiful beaches, a hinterland to discover, creativity and beauty aplenty and home to *that* insta tribe, Byron Bay is a way of life rather than destination as such. We loved our five days there SO much getting to know the area and staying at the heavenly Bask & Stow.

Rottnest Island was a place that I discovered through Instagram {and a very lovely Australian twitter friend from back in the day called Bree} and last January, as we sat at home on a very wet cold weekend I couldn't stop googling photos of it. An island just off the coast of Perth that has over 60 insanely beautiful beaches where there are no cars, just bikes! It's also home to quokkas, small marsupials only found on this island which have become famous for their selfie smiles and as a result driven lots more tourists to the island {although I was just here for the beaches!}, even Roger Federer got in on the action and Qantas have renamed some of their aeroplanes in favour of these much loved little chipmunk like animals. But quokka selfies aside, I'd literally been dreaming of visiting for a whole year and a year later, the day finally arrived. We booked our ferry tickets with the Rottnest Express from Fremantle and went on a Tuesday where tickets & bike hire was half price with their Telethon Tuesday deal - as luck had it we had booked our airbnb from Monday-Wednesday before we found out about the deal. Hello! We're home from our Australia trip and today the sun is actually shining {unlike the freezing cold and rain we came home to which was a shock to the system}. Anyway, we loved Australia so so much {as in, if the visa system was easier I could have totally imagined us moving out there}. It really was such an incredible three weeks away that flew by so fast and for me, even topped California is a new favourite {which is a strong accolade}. I would go back in a flash, and I kind of don't know why it took us so long to visit properly? Just everything was so perfect out there, the weather, of course, but also the lifestyle, the fitness culture, the breakfast culture, the beach culture for that matter, the scenery, the lack of traffic, the ease of travel, the ease of just about everything, no language barriers, amazing food, that outdoor living feel. It was such a dream trip and kind of felt like the best of both between American and England but with a few unique Aussie additions. As usual, I have a million photos to share so I'll split it into the different areas that we stayed. First up; WA - Dunsborough and Fremantle/Perth.
