Summer loving..

June 08, 2016

I promise that that there's a house and garden update coming very soon. I've got the photos just about there but it just takes so long for me to put renovation posts together. So for now, a few photos from my camera roll of the last couple of weeks with some things I've been loving so far now that summer has well and truly arrived.

  • After Italy, we went down to Brighton for to spend the day with my brother for his Birthday. We took the pup with us and the sun shone alll day. Such a lovely home coming. We ate lunch at Busby & Wild's in Kemptown, spent the day wandering along the seafront and around the town and then got burritos on the beach from the newly opened Wahaca. England doesn't get much better than that! {you can see past posts from Brighton in the winter here and here}

Ben found me a heart stone, such a romantic!

Vitamin sea.

  • Back at home, the garden and allotment have been growing and blooming more by the day. The start of the prettiest David Austin roses have begun flowering, we've planted out our cosmos and sweet peas that we grew from seed in the garden and lots of veg seedlings at the allotment. It's so nice walking there in the evenings now to water and check on progress, we were rewarded with our first strawberry of the season the other night. It was the sweetest! Trips to the garden centre have become a regular thing again.

  • The lanes are lined with frothy cow parsley which makes for pretty evening walks and early morning running. I love that it stays light until past 9pm now, the days are soo much longer and being able to go for a walk after dinner is the best.

  • We've had another bank holiday on which we spent at two BBQs with family and friends. It's definitely bbq season now, we've been cooking outside a lot more in the week too. I made these raspberry brownies to take to a friend's last Sunday, my go to pudding! So yummy.

  • On Sunday we took a trip up to my beloved Columbia Road Flower Market {see previous posts here and here}. It felt like we hadn't been to London for ages with being away and being so busy with the house so it was good to have a wander again. We bought peonies and plants for the garden and then went to Hampstead Heath for a walk and brunch.

Those doors again.

Can never resist a bunch of coral charm peonies.

London is so pretty in the summer sunshine.

I was so happy for the blue skies to return after a week of grey clouds. I made sure I crammed all my work into last week when it was grey so I could enjoy the sunshine and this mini heatwave this week. Woop!

Yay for summer! Definitely my favourite season.
