I'm an old romantic. I love love. And fairytales and rom-coms with happy endings. I love my husband and I love hearts and pink and flowers and all that jazz. Valentine's Day isn't for everybody, and we never need an excuse to be romantic. In fact Valentine's Day and the act of forcing/expecting romance probably takes away from the very essence of old fashioned romance but equally why not celebrate the act of being in love, it's a good excuse for a bit of escapism right?  I go a bit crazy for it every year and make an occasion of it which helps to brighten February up. Annual traditions. Sweets for my sweet 💘

I decorated the lounge with garlands, paper straws and balloons. Everything was from The Sweet Hostess party shop here, and the heart felt garland from The Secret Craft House.

I wish I could keep everything up year round. 

Valentine's was on a Tuesday this year so I spread it over a few days. The girls came round for a 'galentine's' evening on Friday then on Saturday Ben took me to the flower market, an annual tradition to pick pretty blooms. I'm not a red roses kind of girl so I chose parrot tulips, ranuculus and scented tuberose. 

I think they might be the prettiest blooms I've ever had!

I treated Ben to a night and dinner away at The Pig {full post here} which was heaven and just what we both needed.

So after a full-on weekend of romance celebrated early we had a low key Tuesday with nothing fancy for dinner but some Nila Holden cookies and cute cards. Ben also surprised me with some artwork prints I'd had my eye on for the new extension 😍.
