Summer Day Out - Brighton
June 27, 2017
I've blogged about days out in Brighton before {here and here} but we've tended to go in the Winter rather than summer which is crazy given that it's a seaside town made for hot sunny days. My Brother has been at university down there so it's become a favourite place to visit and see him at the same time - he's just about to graduate so future trips won't be the same. A couple of weeks back we went down for the day to pick up some chairs from Hove, it was so warm and sunny so I couldn't resist sharing these photos from my camera roll below.
Seaside stripes! Dress online here. - Now in the sale! Go go go!
We love wandering down the streets around the North Laine on a Saturday morning, there are little street markets, vintage shops and quirky independent cafes. Look out for the Flour Pot bakery.
Coloured houses and old cars.
We walked down to the seafront, under the bunting lined streets.
and then sat on the beach for the morning, catching up with my baby bro.
It was just before the heatwave hit so the beach was quiet but just a few days later it was completely packed.
The Pavilion always amazes me, such a gorgeous building.
We headed straight to Franco Manca as it opened for lunch. Our favourite for sourdough pizza {and pretty tiles!}
You can ask for a heart shaped pizza which made my day.
Then we headed back to my Brother's house to pick up the car and driving across to Hove. We hadn't ever explored Hove much but I think it's much nicer than Brighton with tree lined wide streets, villas and again lots of quirky independent shops, cafes and restaurants with the beach and beach huts at the end of nearly every street.
Ice cream by the sea.
Don't miss the coloured beach huts.
I always love the stripey pastel shades the best.
We were picking up some antique chairs from Love Joy Antiques so couldn't resist a look around the Three Angels antique shop next time. It's FULL of vintage french furniture that I love so I was swooning over all of it.
Luckily {or unfortunately} it was all £££ so I didn't feel like bringing any of it home when we were off to Kempton antiques market a few days later where we knew we could pick up some bargains.
We were so pleased with these chairs though that are literally the perfect size, shape and colour for the kitchen. Ben found them via an eBay search.
Getting them home was the fun part.
They got home in one piece and now take pride of place in the kitchen. We call them our garden chairs as we can sit and look out to the garden like an old couple in them.
Such a lovely start to the summer.
Is Brighton your favourite? If we'd have had longer that day we would have stopped at Lewes which is another favourite nearby and The South Downs are gorgeous.
