Travel - Spring in the Cotswolds, Oxford & a stay at Foxhill Manor

April 18, 2016

Last weekend I had a So You're Getting Married trip to stay at Foxhill Manor for the night {I know, I know, I still keep pinching myself that it's my job to go and review these incredible places!}. You can read the full review here over on SYGM  but I wanted to share some photos here too including the glorious morning we spent in Oxford beforehand. A spring sunny Sunday, with all the magnolia's in full bloom, wandering around such a magical city before we headed to the Cotswolds.

Our first visit to Oxford was last summer, full post on it here, when we rented a boat, walked around the botanical gardens and picnicked in the sunshine. This visit was a lot shorter as a stop off on the way to the Cotswolds, it's just over half way from where we live. Being a Sunday morning it was so lovely and quiet so we felt like we had the city to ourselves!

We asked a fellow tourist to take our photo, meaning from a distance but he must have liked the close up look.

We walked through Christchurch meadows, along the river and then out to the famous Radcliffe Camera which must be one of the prettiest squares in all of England.

The bluest skies and the prettiest magnolias.

Along with bikes along every spare bit of railings.

We headed to Daylesford for lunch, passing rolling hills and fields full of adorable lambs on the way.

As you've probably guessed from previous posts on Daylesford, it's a favourite when in that neck of the woods. Such an amazing farm shop and yummy {but healthy and 100% organic} cafe too.

When we visited back in January there were daffodils out everywhere and so we were amazed to see great swaths of them still lining the lanes three months on! Such a pretty part of the world.

After driving through Snowshill, a cute chocolate box village we missed out last time, we headed to Broadway and Foxhill Manor where we were staying for the night. I won't ramble on and repeat everything I said on the SYGM post as it took me long enough the first time. But it was a truly truly special place to stay with some real unique quirks that make it better than any other hotel in the UK! From only having eight beautiful rooms so you feel like it's your own manor house for the night to meeting with the chef to choose exactly what you want for dinner that night, and a pantry to help yourself to whatever you feel like all included, we were thoroughly spoilt. Which felt extra special seeing as we have a building site of a house at the moment!

Such an indulgent couple of days until the moment when I came out of my treatment at the spa the next morning and Ben had already had to deal with a couple of stressy phonecalls from the builders meaning we had to rush straight home. Back to reality within seconds haha but so so good while it lasted.

  2. Wow this place looks truly amazing, with only 8 rooms, fantastic. It's always nice to squeeze a quick pit stop in if your traveling somewhere..... Oxford looks so beautiful, it's been far to long since I last visited this stunning city steeped in history.
