Al Fresco Living // With the White Company {Part Three - Garden Decor}
May 18, 2018
Happy Friday! Are you as excited as I am for the Royal Wedding this weekend? And the weather forecast for that matter. This week I've been sharing outdoor living inspiration with The White Company and we've talked about hosting in general {and flower prep} along with BBQ and recipes. Today I wanted to quickly share some ideas for your garden decor, probably the most important 'room' of your house in the summer. I know that for us, the minute that it's a warm sunny day, we just want to spend as much of it as possible outside. For hosting dinner with friends & family, making an outdoor office or just taking five minutes to soak up a little sunshine in the middle of a busy day, I'm sharing the products that we can't be without this summer...
Apologies for the grey clouds on the day of shooting {although it actually made the light a little easier to take photos in!}. But I think that even on the cloudiest of summer days, things like the bunting and comfy padded cushions make your garden feel sunshine ready regardless.
First up, laying the table for al-fresco feasts. I think you'll have guessed by now just how much I adore this striped table mat for a centrepiece.
It also matches these napkins {in both a stripe and a grey linen - I like to mix the two}.
The simplicity of this vase makes sure that the flowers you pick speak for themselves
And these seagrass tealight holders mix in well with these hanging bubble glass..
I adore the style of these bistro folding chairs {and they're super handy to store} but ours were vintage finds that are rickety now and uncomfortable. Last summer I'd invested in 6 of these padded tie on cushions to make them more comfy, and feel more stylish which are perfect. This summer, we decided that we could do with a couple more chairs to make our table seat 8 so these chairs are the perfect solution. I love the mix of old and new, and they're so much more hardwearing yet still look the part.
I can't talk about seating without sharing the DREAMIEST deck chair of all time. Made for two, it's double width and looks just the part on our patio. I know that we'll spend hours whiling away the time sat in this all summer, I'd like to think with a book in my hand but even sitting here to work will be heaven. You can find it online here.
A basket adds a little French charm.
I love the fact that it comes with these two matching canvas cushions for added comfort. And again, crucially for us and storage, it folds down completely flat for the Winter months.
A garden wouldn't feel party ready without some bunting. I've been a fan of this bunting ever since our wedding, and keep adding to the collection as the patio has expanded over the past few years. Easy to string up and take down, it's white cotton perfection against a blue sky. And a really good price.
I'm a big fan of light in the garden, not especially at this time of year when it stays light for so late, but you'll really notice that come August and September time when the evenings are still warm but get dark a lot earlier, that lanterns add a real charm and bit of magic to your garden. We've used these torch lanterns {that come as a set of 2} to stand in our bath tub and flower beds which can fit both a large or small tea-light in.
Here's to lots of sunshine this summer though. As I type it's look promising for the weekend!
