Have you heard about The Rex cinema in Berkhamsted? It's a 1938 art-deco style beautiful cinema which makes watching a film even more of a treat than your typical Vue or Odeon with their sticky seats and annoying teenagers. I guess it's similar to Everyman cinemas around London but this one is just ten minutes down the road from us. I'd been before a couple of times but that must have been a more than four years ago now. It's notoriously hard to get tickets and I guess I just forgot it was there. That changed last Monday though when I went to see Before I go To Sleep and fell back in love with The Rex experience.

{oops this post got published earlier in the week by mistake sorry if you've already read it!}
Sunny autumnal days can be so beautiful. Last Sunday, after a few days of rain and feeling under the weather I needed a morning out. I love where we live but after doing the same walks with the dog most days in the week I crave a change by the weekend. Ben and I love going to Richmond Park as the leaves start to turn for a walk and to see the deer but decided to discover somewhere new and now Bushy Park is a firm favourite.

I love Kew Gardens and always try to go around once a year, usually in the summer. But last October, to celebrate halloween and as part of the IncrEdibles festival, Kew was filled with pumpkins. I love Autumn and all things halloween so one Saturday morning, Ben and I headed to Kew for a wander and ogle at the pumpkin displays.

If I hadn't have called the blog after my love of flowers and roll top baths, bunting would definitely have been a contender for it's name. Bunting and Rolltops just doesn't have quite the same ring about it.. Bunting for me is so cheery, it comes out for every celebration at home and you always know you're in a charming English town or village when you see flags strung across the streets. Marlow, in Buckinghamshire is one of our favourite places for a day out. It's nice year round but is especially good in the Summer when you can walk along the river and watch the boats in the sunshine with a picnic.

Hitchin or Provence? This was our second summer visiting the Hitchin Lavender Farm in Ickleford, Hertfordshire and I think I loved it even more this time. We went on a bright blue sky hot sunny day at the start of August and the lavender was at its peak, bright purple against the blue sky and smelling heavenly. Pick a path to walk up along with hundreds of buzzy bees and butterflies going crazy for the lavender.

Throwback Thursday's will feature a range of days out or any kind of event not suitable for Makeover Mondays, Travelling Tuesdays, Wedding Wednesday's or Foodie Friday's. I guess it's a miscellaneous day but seeing as I've got a lot of catching up to do on this blog I'll call it Throwback Thursday honouring my love of Instagram.
First up is a post on Columbia Road Flower Market, one of my favourite places to visit at least once per season since we lived in London. Every Sunday, rain or shine from about 8am to 2pm, Columbia Road in East London fills up with stalls selling fresh flowers and plants. They're amazing value, quality, such a great selection and always such a lovely experience compared to buying your blooms for the week from the supermarket if you love flowers as much as I do.
We tend to get up fairly early and drive in to London, it's about forty minutes from us and an easy drive on a Sunday compared to the crazy traffic in the week. Parking is free on Sunday's which is a bonus. It gets fairly busy after about 10am so if you can get there early but if you go at the end of their day you can get some bargains depending on what stock is left.
The stallholders are all traditional cockney's with good banter and there are vintage shops and mini markets to browse around in the surrounding streets. Make sure you walk down the side streets for art galleries, random pop-ups, cool coffee stalls and the Lily Vanilli bakery. Last week when we visited there was a whole corner shop project filled with realistic knitted felt products which was quite spectacular.
We tend to make a day of it and drive on to somewhere else in London after strolling around the market. Last Christmas, when buying our wreath we had brunch at Duck and Waffle nearby in the City, in the Spring we went to Islington for lunch and shopping, in June we stopped at Hampstead Heath for a walk in the sunshine and just last weekend we headed into the West End for shopping and lunch at Wahaca.
We've learnt to take a bucket full of water in the car with us, especially if it's hot to keep any purchases fresh until we can get them home.
Floral Heaven.
A lovely Sunday morning out and then you've got yourself beautiful blooms to brighten up the house for the week ahead <3
You can find more info and travel directions here.
