Merry Weekend and all things Christmas {number 50}

December 16, 2016

Hello! A bit of a bumper post from me today as I've finally got some time to sit down to upload some photos. Plus it's probably one of my last posts of the year! I'm aiming to take some time off next week to just enjoy all things Christmas. It's been mad recently but in a good way. Here's what I've been up to over the past couple of festive weeks..

Wreath making -
It's become an annual tradition now {see here and here for previous years} to make a Christmas wreath with my Mumma. This year I chose pheasant feathers and pink berries with lots of pine, some limes and eucalyptus for our new {old} door.

Date day in London
I love traditions so this year Ben and I carried on our Christmas date of a trip to Columbia Road and then Somerset House to watch the ice skating and have hot chocolates. It was so special and Ben surprised me by taking me to Tiffany to replace the pearl bracelet I'd lost last year. It was the first thing he ever bought for me back in 2008 and I wore it on my wedding day. Such an old romantic. I can't wait until Christmas day to wear it! It was such a cold crisp wintry day. London you're the best.

Wrapping
I love Christmas shopping. Once I've worked out what to buy everyone, you can't beat that feeling of getting out buying for those you love or waiting for the postman to deliver all the parcels you've ordered online. I got most of it done early this year and I've gone for more vouchers/experiences to give to people this year. I can't wait to share what I've bought my parents as I can't stop smiling everytime I see it {but my Mum might read this so all will be revealed after the 25th!}. I also adore wrapping, I've got a bit more to do this weekend but most of it is done and under the tree woop!

Christmas Dinners and Catch ups -
I said Merry Christmas early to two of my oldest girlfriends this year, it's SO hard getting diaries sorted for this busy time of year. And on Sunday it's Christmas dinner with my girl gang.

Winter walks -
Come back cold frosty mornings! I always hope for snow at this time of year but it's always so damn mild.

Christmas days out -
We went to Stowe NT last weekend for a walk around the spectacular grounds. It was themed for an advent walk which made it fun looking out for the hints of Christmas hidden around.

And then onto Burford garden centre. Home of ALL things Christmas.

Before a fun Sunday evening at my parents with family friends. Complete with a full Christmas dinner, turkey and all and the new cards against humanity game. So bad but so good. I haven't laughed like that in AGES.

Royal Albert Hall -
Sandals, one of the SYGM partners I've worked with this year on my honeymoon section, treated us to carols at the Royal Albert Hall yesterday. I'd never been before so it was such a lovely treat to experience. Ben and I completed it with a lunch date in town and a walk around the pretty neighbourhoods filled with festive doors.

Christmas Food Shop -
My Mum and I had our pre-Christmas trip to Costco the other day to pick up the Ham and Cheese ready for alll the eating that will commence v soon. We'll go to the supermarket later next week for everything else and we've already got the turkey on order, the M&S pigs in blankets and red cabbage in the freezer ready. My Mum is Mrs organised when it comes to Christmas and Jamie's Get-ahead gravy is ready and waiting in the freezer! The goose is getting fat...

Soaking up alll the magic -
I don't want these magical December days to end. The fairy lights, the gingerbread, the advent countdown, the mistletoe. It's all too good. Next week I'm aiming to watch Home Alone, Elf and make a gingerbread house.

So I'll hope to come back on here before Christmas/New Year but if not then Merry Merry Christmas. Over the next few days we've got two neighbours drinks parties, my girls Christmas dinner followed by the annual pilates lunch where Jacqui goes ALL out hosting, a Christmas cinema date, gingerbread house making, food shopping, coca cola ham cooking, movies and present giving to those we won't see before the big weekend. I'm also hoping to sort some more bits for the kitchen extension, I want to write a list of all the things we need to make decisions on {flooring, lights, cookers, taps etc etc} and take this time off to work through them all but I feel like next week will fly by. We've also got workmen in to start the front spare room off before it can be decorated in Jan {that we haven't even touched yet} and the block work should hopefully go up on the extension out the back. It's all GO as ever!

Have a lovely lovely one. Catch up soon.
