Happy, Long, Weekend {Week 17, the 2017 edition}

April 28, 2017

Happy Friday! And another long weekend, hip hip hooray. We're using the Bank Holiday to fly to Italy, I'm so excited to visit the Amalfi Coast and I hope it's as magical as I'm imagining it to be. I'm lucky to travel a lot with work but this is a personal trip Ben and I booked last year, it's a place we've wanted to visit for a while so I can't wait for us both to be able to switch off for a bit and escape some of the building dust for a while! I've loved having some new interior posts to share this week, and there's lots more to come. But it's been a while since I've written one of these weekend posts, I'll blame Easter and the past couple of weeks have been crazy but I thought I'd come and check in quickly to catch up on what's new around the house, some new favourites I've been loving {these cute mugs from Photobox} and what I've been up to before I go..

Our stair runner got fitted! We still need the rods cutting down but it's such a transformation to the old chippy stairs {before photos of the hallway here}. I'll write a full post on this once it's all finished as I've had so many questions on where we got our runner from etc.

Radiators! I've been so excited to share some sneak peeks of the kitchen extension and some of the things we've chosen. These reclaimed Duchess radiators from Ribble Radiators are one of them and I'm so pleased with them. Again I'll write a full post on this as we had so much fun creating our bespoke radiators. They're not fitted yet, we need to finish the floor off first.

Also hello brass tap of dreams.

Everything is looking so green in the garden all of a sudden. I can't wait for it all to bloom. Blog post on our summerhouse coming soon {sorry am I a broken record? I promise I do have lots of these makeover posts ready to go!}

It's been freezing this week, where did Spring/Summer disappear to? I woke up to a thick frost twice this week!

Into the roses and lavender. I wish we had more time for the garden right now with all the house renovating but everything we planted last year seems to be blooming ok.

Clearing the allotment last weekend. Luckily at the moment it's been a bit too early/cold to plant things out. We're starting some pumpkin and courgette seeds off this weekend and hoping it will be warmer once we're back from Italy. Also want to start some kale and chard seeds off. Once the kitchen is finished we should have more time for everything again, for now it's a case of keeping it all ticking over.

Leftover Easter bunnies...

In love with the wisteria on our house right now.

This house has sapped so much of our love, time and energy over the past year. There's still a couple of months to go and it's a complete labour of love. But she's our labour of love and I still pinch myself every time I come up the drive. Especially in Wisteria season.

Kitchen progress. This was last weekend when it all looks relatively clear. Right now though it's gone backwards and there are tools and paint tins everywhere. The utility and boot room and the old kitchen which connects this extension to the house are being plastered. The downstairs toilet is being reconfigured so it's chaotic. But progress!

Trying to keep the lounge as my sanctuary even if she is a little dusty..

Bluebell woods.

And bluebells in our garden.

Blossom saying goodbye in style covering the pavements in confetti.

The view of the wisteria from our lounge.

Packing for Italy. For some silly reason we've decided to take hand luggage only. I thought it would be a fun challenge trying to take only what we need. But I haven't stopped laughing at the size of the case we're meant to be taking a weeks worth of everything in so I realllly need to rethink and pack a lot less- I am my Mother's Daughter when it comes to packing. Also hello new pretty summer blouse! {online here} I can't wait for some warmer weather to wear it next week.

PEONY CLAXON

Coral charm are my favourites.

This week I've been rushing around trying to get everything sorted, finish lots of work projects off, manage the build and my poor father in law got taken into hospital. So it's been a bit manic trying to fit everything in. BUT yesterday my Mum and I had planned to go to London for some various appointments so we decided to make a morning of it. The most fun part was the Boden A/W press day. We swooned over the new collection but also the decor and set up they'd created. You can get 20% of the entire Boden collection here. Leopard print everything and some gorgeous new swan prints and a lot of pink knitwear. Yess please. But before we think about jumpers again let's hope we have a good summer first?

Dark gallery walls, herringbone floors and insane floral displays. Also I love the chairs, live models et al!

This bag please.

SHOES.

After a morning in London I came home to clean some of the dust {seriously can we talk about the dust} from the building work and make a decision on where a new toilet should go. All the glamour. But then it was time to dress up and head to The Great House, a new boutique hotel launching on the bank of the Thames in Sonning. It was gorgeous and I got to catch up with Liberty London Girl and Lettice  {love them}. No two days are ever the same, life is a bit of a juggling act at the moment but it's all good fun too. {minus the stressy bits}

And finally, that brings me to this afternoon where I'm sat on my laptop typing this out. I have to share with you the view from my desk, brightened up by a new mug that Photobox kindly sent me yesterday. It's from their new range of vintage enamel mugs launching next week that you can customise with any photo {or up to two photos} and text. There's lots of shapes to go for, I chose this heart shape around one of my favourite wedding photos. I love enamel, it feels so retro. And whilst I don't drink tea or coffee I think they look cute used to store things or even use as a vase for fresh flowers! I'm thinking of buying them as gifts as a little extra for people's birthdays this year as they even come with little drawstring gift bags. You can find them online on the Photobox website here.

Do you have any nice plans for the weekend? Other than trying to get on top of the garden and allotment before we go, I'll say ciao for now as we're Positano bound. But back to the blog very soon with posts on summer picnics, our kitchen flooring, summerhouse and talking about bifolding v sliding doors.
