Travel - Shangri La Villingili, The Maldives
April 13, 2017
Last week we got back from The Maldives. It was a dream trip like no other and I can't stop looking at the photos. Now that we're home in our dusty construction zone of a house, I keep having to remind myself that last week was real. Whilst I'm sharing more on the resorts we stayed at on So You're Getting Married today with my role as honeymoon editor, I'd love to share some more personal photos below if you'd like to see.
{Flying above the islands with incredible views} |
{three flights and a speedboat trip later..} |
{we arrived in paradise! Hello Shangri La Maldives} |
{greeted with fresh coconuts and tropical flowers} |
{I have this thing with jettys. That sea and those palms!} |
{we got driven by buggy to our water villa and were wowing the entire time} |
{the view from our overwater villa, 222} |
{outdoor shower where you can see the fish below as you wash your hair!} |
{needless to say we didn't shower once inside that trip} |
{his n hers sinks either side of the bath} |
{walk in wardrobe goals} |
{greeted with champagne, local bananas and macarons!} |
{our favourite part was the outdoor deck} |
{with the sparkliest sea} |
{it was huge, we spent nearly all of our time here} |
{loved this hammock} |
{the view from bed. with remote controllable blinds! I mean!} |
{each villa comes with a pair of bikes which we loved. So fun exploring the island} |
{kaftan online here} |
{pancakes, crepes or waffles. Dolphin shapes for the kids. So cute} |
{my fav breakfast crepe with nutella, pear, walnuts and yogurt} |
One morning we took part in a honeymoon photo shoot...
{my black dress is online here and such a bargain} |
{photos to treasure forever. I love this one} |
We mainly spent our days on the dock of our water villa and exploring the island, cycling after breakfast before a day of sunbathing and swimming...
{his n hers palm print... we didn't intentionally match I promise} |

{This beach was just heaven} |
{fresh coconuts} |
If we wanted a change of scene we'd do a lap of the island, finding new parts every time.
{looking around the chef's garden} |
{cycling around the island} |
One afternoon we went on a dolphin cruise..
{dolphin spotting} |
{new dress perfect for beachy summer days here} |
{there were hundreds but most way too fast for me to capture!} |
And in the evenings before sunset and dinner we'd get photos on the jetty.
Then we'd cycle or walk to dinner, each night becoming our new favourite {they were all so amazing}. This was Fashala, on the edge of a sand bank.
{cheers!} |
{watching the sunset from our table} |
{loved this interior} |
But we also loved dinner on the main beach at Javuu. Lobster risotto one night and a beach BBQ the next. I literally died and went to heaven in a food coma after the unlimited seafood and dessert buffet..
{Ben and I want to return for the seafood BBQ alone} |
A few more beach snaps, you're probably completely bored by now...
{swimming off the dock} |
{Afternoons spent like this. I read 5 books!} |
{travelling the world with this guy} |
Next up, to Baros where we honeymooned almost three years back!
