Photos from my Birthday {the 2017 edition}

April 09, 2017

Some photos and a little recap of my Birthday weekend below. If you know me at all, you'll know what a huge fan of celebrating Birthdays I am. This year though with Ben so busy on the kitchen extension and us flying to The Maldives the day after I didn't want to do anything major to celebrate {I mean, those two things are pretty much all I could ever wish for!}. So we kept it simple and did all of my favourite things over a few days. I celebrated with dinner at my favourite restaurant with the girls, went for walks under blossom and blue skies, had breakfast in bed, saw family and friends, had a sunny lunch with my Mum and the pup and ate a lot of cake. It was perfect and with just a few pink and gold decorations {and an incredible cake thanks to Nicola Johnson} it was so so pretty.

With my Birthday falling on a Tuesday this year, and Mother's Day just a couple of days before, it felt like a whole weekend of extended celebrations. I've blogged all the photos from the spring weekend and Mother's Day here and here. I love this time of year and the weather was so kind this year, I even wore sandals on my Birthday!

The end of March feels like the time when Spring has really sprung.

We'd been to the flower market for mother's day flowers and Ben bought me a bunch of my favourite ranunculus as Birthday blooms. I think they might be one of the prettiest bunches I've ever received!

On the Monday I treated myself to a day of getting my nails done ready for going away, finishing packing and putting up some Birthday decorations. These are all from the Sweet Party Shop {online here}, pink and gold everything...

Styling the seasons.. You don't need many to brighten up a room especially with some flowers mixed in.

And then the cake arrived... HEART EYES.

Nicola Johnson makes the best cakes and this year's was my favourite yet. Chocolate sponge with white chocolate buttercream and pink macarons with gold leaf. The dream.

Almost too pretty to eat!! {almost}

I made sure I took loads of photos before we cut into it, starting early! I didn't even bother with candles this year, diving straight in.

I had these little mini lemon and raspberry delights too that looked so cute on this mini pink stand.

We sneakily cut the back of the cake, meaning that the front still looked good for visitors the next day! Ben and I went for a walk through the fields and watched the sunset, ending my 24th year on a high.

The next morning, my actual Birthday, I'd bought myself new running shoes so tried them out and then came back for breakfast in bed to open cards.

 We baked a load of croissants from frozen {the waitrose packs are so yummy} giving the builders a birthday breakfast in the new shell of the kitchen too.

My Mum took me out for lunch with the pup and the sun shone.

We had quinoa salads and a walk around the lake before coming home for yet more cake.

If you give me anything chocolate and raspberry I'll love you forever. We had family and friends drop in throughout the afternoon and evening, seeing the extension progress and catching up over cake.

Most of my presents were garden related like this beautiful rusty obelisk from Ben's Mum and climbing roses for our new fence.

By the end of the day and evening we'd finished all the cake off and had a frantic last minute packing run around before getting ready to fly off the next day.

What a magical few days! So surreal. And now that I'm home from The Maldives I just want to relive all of it again from the beginning! R <3 xx

{I was sent some of the items in this post to review but I'd never feature anything that I didn't truly love and would happily pay for myself}
