Scenes from our Easter Weekend

April 20, 2017

How was your Easter? I hope filled with chocolate? We hadn't planned much at all for ours other than Easter Sunday which would be spent with our families. I never know how busy bank holidays will be, if you want to go out somewhere the roads can be crazy so we decided to stay home and carry on with the never ending house and garden renovating. However, spur of the moment plans can sometimes be the best kind of plans and so with a sudden decision to go to London on Good Friday along with brunch, peonies and easter baking, this weekend was actually one of my favourites for a long time. We had a mixture of being productive - Ben cracked on with the floor while I sorted some of the garden out - along with more fun stuff like our pizza date and seeing some of our favourite people for bluebell walks and egg hunts. And it's always such a bonus when the days blur into one, Friday felt like Saturday and Monday felt like another Sunday. Some photos below if you'd like to see;

Mini eggs for days.

Our Easter inspired front door.

The prettiest apple blossom.

Puppy in the bluebells. The woods are full of them right now.

Easter vignettes around the house.

The decking on the shed was finished just before the long weekend so I arranged all our pots until we finish the patio. I'll do a full post on the summerhouse soon.

Lilac love. On Good Friday we decided spontaneously to head into London for a Franco Manca pizza date {our favourite} and a walk around Notting Hill. I love the coloured houses and spotting all the pretty blossom, peonies and wisteria. London was so quiet, it felt like we had it to ourselves and was the perfect evening walking around the scented streets.

Pink doors and Wisteria goals.

On Saturday we had a lay in before going out for brunch {so much easier and yummier than anything we can make at home right now with our temporary kitchen getting knocked through!} and then discovered that peony season had returned at the flower stall.

Woop!

It was also cold enough to wear my new coat, a birthday present from me to me. Normally I always want sunshine but for once I was kind of glad to wrap up for a couple more days.

Then Ben cracked on with the floor whilst I did some gardening as the sun came out! I persuaded my Mumma to come to the garden centre with me for new plants.

Floor!! Full blog post on this coming soon, we've gone for oak parquet in a herringbone pattern and it took Ben almost all of the long weekend to lay about half of the room, definitely a labour of love.

New shoes from Cara London here.

Annual easter nest making, I had two to make this year. Recipe from previous years here.

On Easter Sunday we had an annual egg-hunt and brunch at Ben's Mum's.

Complete with a new little bunny to join the fun this year! So cute.

 SO MUCH CHOCOLATE.

I also made a hot cross bun bread and butter pudding {I used this recipe} which is great for leftover hot cross buns. We had dinner with family friends at my parents on Sunday afternoon and laughed until we cried, you know when some people and conversations are just so funny?!

That evening, it was Easter round three, and my friend Hannah had just moved into a house in London so me and the girls went up for the evening.

And then Monday was a day at home, a bit of work, a walk through the cow parsley and some more flooring. We hoovered up the leftover Easter treats and all felt pretty tired.

But a good weekend was had by all.
