Travel - Baros, Maldives {back to where we honeymooned}

April 18, 2017

The second part of our Maldives trip last week took us back to Baros where we'd honeymooned almost three years before {remember this and this?}. I was so excited to return, it had been such an incredible place, and a tiny island in the middle of a turquoise sea, but I also hoped it would be as good as we remembered. Would we potentially ruin our dreamy honeymoon memories? But I shouldn't have worried, both trips will always be remembered and I think this time it was almost better than the first? More on the resort as a destination on So You're Getting Married later this week but below are some personal travel snaps;
{coolest plane views}
Landing at Male airport feels like you're in Venice or somewhere, it's a tiny island only accessed by boat or plane. There was a speed boat waiting to take us twenty minutes across the water to Baros.

It felt like it had done three years earlier and because we knew what to expect this time we were full of excitement. On arrival the staff told us 'welcome home'.

That sea! Those palms!

We were taken to our room, an overwater villa and on the walk there after we'd arrived for all of five minutes we spotted a shark! The sea is so clear, it's amazing to watch all the fish just from walking along the jetty.

Last time we had booked an overwater villa, this time we were put in a pool water villa! It completely topped it and we were blown away with the infinity pool meeting the sea.

A private deck with steps into the sea. We couldn't take our eyes off of the colour of the sea.

We only had three nights here this time so we split our sunset viewing up. The first night was from our dock, the sun shimmering over the sea and our pool.

We quickly remembered just how much we loved this place, perhaps even more this time? Going in March rather than July as we had done previously gave us much better weather.

The walk to breakfast every morning.

Breakfast this time around was by the new infinity pool Baros were building on our last stay. Such a gorgeous setting.

Not pictured; all the waffles, crepes, croissants and tuna curry we had every morning!

The beach was just how we'd remembered it, the softest whitest sand with the clearest water. We loved watching the sharks and sting rays whilst walking along the shore.

Pure paradise. I tried to soak it alll up.

Recreating our honeymoon ring photo in the same spot!

We spent some afternoons snorkelling, some on this dock over the sea and some by the pool. I read some really great books; the only time I ever have time to read is when I'm away. What Alice Forgot and The Breakdown are worth reading.

Having a massage at the spa is literally one of my favourite past-times ever ever.

The most ridiculously beautiful island. You can walk around the whole thing in just 7 minutes.

The snorkelling on the house reef is some of the best in the Maldives, we got up close with turtles, sharks {the friendly black tip kind although they still look pretty scary} and so many colourful fish. I got a new camera before going out, the Olympus Tough TG4 which was so much better than my go pro for underwater pics.

My Mum had bought me this Fat Face dress for my honeymoon, I still take it on nearly every trip we go on.

The Lighthouse Bar is our favourite at sunset.

Along with sitting on the dock.

This guy 😍

Somebody take me back for more tandoori lobster and the best prawns ever ever.

I realised only recently how mad about food Ben and I are. I don't know why it took me so long to figure out.

Baros, and Shangri La, Maldives we love you! Such an incredible week.
