Summer Dressing {Part One - With Fat Face}

July 26, 2017

Summer dresses are my very favourite thing to wear on holiday/when we have warm weather in England. I don't think you can beat a dress really, there's nothing else to think about, just chuck it on and you've got an instant outfit. I guess you could call it lazy dressing yet when you wear a dress it just feels like you've made an effort. They're feminine and there are so many different options, mini, midi, maxi. Sundresses, shirt dresses, floaty dresses, fitted dresses, with sleeves or without, plain or patterned. You may have guessed that I wear a lot of dresses when on holiday and it's something you guys on Instagram seem to comment on a lot. One of you lovely ladies requested a summer clothes update on the blog and whilst I appreciate that in fashion terms all of the shops are transitioning into Autumn already, I wanted to share what I've bought recently for the rest of the summer and to wear again next year. I try and buy things that will last for a good few years at least or it seems like such a false economy. This is part one with Fat Face's gorgeous new transitional collection to take you into August/September but again will be great for next summer or any summer holidays you have coming up. They're killing it this season I think, there are so many things I adore! Part two up next week with the rest of the high street.

1. Sliders. Summer sliders are in fashion right now but I don't see any reason why these can't last you for a good few years worth of holidays. I've been wearing these stripey slip ons to jazz up a plain outfit and they look great with denim, black or white. Would be great for around the pool/beach.

Also I've never really looked at Fat Face's shoes before but they have such a great range including Saltwater Sandals and Palmaria sandals.. I got a new pair of white canvas flats {the Easton trainer range} for when the weather gets too cold for sandals but before you want to wear boots.

2. Palm print bikini; I haven't bought a new bikini this summer, mainly sticking to my stripes/coral collection but you can't beat a new bikini. We're headed to Mauritius in a few weeks so I think this new tropical inspired palm print bikini will be perfect. I've had Fat Face bikinis for years now, they last well and are v flattering {read not too skimpy!}. There are some lovely kaftans online here too that I've got my eye on.

3. Pattern; I'm in love with the patterns above for dresses. The tile print, classic blue & white stripe, an off white {that looks great with tan accessories} and a black floral print that will carry through into September when hopefully the days are still warm. I'll carry on wearing this with tights and boots into the autumn though too. Love the nipped in waist and the pockets.

Tile print. Yes please! I wore this peplum dress on a hot day in Norfolk last week and it was perfect for the beach. The back ties up and so is really cool {temperature wise} to wear and is just the right length. Not too long and not too short.

My favourite print also comes as a blouse with frilly sleeves which I LOVE. Great for pairing with denim shorts or jeans.

The Suki shirt dress; this comes in chambray, a stripe and an embroidered ivory. I had a reallly hard time choosing between them as I love the style. In the end I plumped for both the stripe and the ivory. I don't think people will realise they're the same shape of dress as they have such different looks about them. I wore the ivory version with a tan belt around the other day. I would say to size down in these as they are full skirted and come up slightly big around the shoulders/waist too.

And the stripe was perfect nautical attire for the beach.

4. Flippy skirts; I got the stripey print above in a skirt too as I love it so much. Perfect for the Greek Islands/Italy/France with a little camisole tucked in.
