Styling // With California Shutters* {a sneak peek}

November 24, 2018

You might remember me sharing an exciting day of filming a few weeks ago over on my Instagram? It was with California Shutters for a campaign that I'm featuring in with them this Christmas and into next Spring and I'd love to share a look behind the scenes below if you'd like to see... {there's also the exclusive reveal of the Christmas video that I feature in!}

The idea was that California Shutters {remember this post about our bedroom shutters?} would hire a location shoot house and I'd have a whole room, with three different areas, to style for the shoot. But in the end, it wasn't just any old shoot house. It was this dream, characterful house in Cheam that I wanted to move right into!

I'd been given details of the areas I'd be styling in advance and so had some fun ordering lots of gorgeous props to play around with. I started with mood boards on Pinterest but largely modelled it on areas of our own house, which I guess on Instagram, I'm well known for. Having a blank canvas, and choosing furniture to order in for the day, was like a dream come true for me as an interiors addict. And the shutters provided the perfect back drop to everything.

There was a dining area & dresser, a desk home office area, and probably my favourite part which was a mantle to style for, wait for it..... Christmas {!}

With a room full of props, and the cameras all poised {there was a film crew and a photographer}, I would style the areas whilst being filmed for both a time lapse feature, which are always fun to watch, and the main campaign video along with photos being taken for the stills.

We had a chef for the day who cooked us lunch {fancy!} and it was just such a fab experience to be working with this whole team in this incredible house.

I'll hold off from sharing the after photos for these areas until the campaigns are ready to go live.

But here's a sneak peek...

And now onto Christmas! The tips for styling a Christmas mantle video is live right now over on the California Shutter's website. There's everything from adding fresh greenery and making a garland to fairy lights to adding that festive glow.
