If you've been following this blog for a while, you may remember our first trip to Positano last May {blog posts here, here and here} in which we completely fell head over heels in love with this magical town on the Amalfi Coast. We used to have a rule that we'd never go back to places when there's a huge world to explore, but then again you don't come across places like Positano very often. And I'd been dreaming of it ever since! So when we were planning this trip to Italy, we knew we'd have to have a few days in Positano again. If you're looking for a full blog guide to Positano then see the posts linked above, these few days were just about revisiting some favourite places and going to a beach club which was shut during our May trip. If I'd have been worried about remembering Positano too fondly then I needn't have been, for it was dreamier than ever. The weather in September was so perfect and it's still one of my all time favourite places.

After our time in Puglia {which you can read about here and here if you're interested}, we drove to Naples airport to drop our hire car off and then hopped on the bus to Naples port. It goes from the airport and costs just five euros each. From here, we would catch a ferry to Capri for a night before getting a ferry across to Positano. Before we visited, we had such mixed views on Capri. When we were on the Amalfi Coast last year, we had planned a daytrip to Capri but cancelled it a few days before because we just loved Positano so much and had heard Capri would be really touristy and expensive. Yet everyone kept asking why we hadn't been to Capri and saying how beautiful it was. So this time round we thought we'd better go to see what the fuss was about. It turned out to be a really good way to get to Positano by boat as well from the airport, rather than having to pay for an expensive transfer or brave the bus with the extreme windy, roads that grip onto the cliffside. Yet, when in Puglia trying to plan Capri, we were on the brink of cancelling again! Whatever we read seemed to be really negative and we were convinced we wouldn't like it. But we had an Airbnb booked over there so decided to go. And boy am I glad that we did. It was breathtakingly beautiful, incredibly special and the perfect start to our time on the Amalfi Coast. We just had one day and night there so we planned out our day and it turned out to be amazing, and minimised the other tourists {of which it was busy but I think September is a perfect time to visit}. Part Two of our adventures in Puglia at the start of September. After our two nights staying at Nina Trulli Resort & exploring the areas like Poligano a Mare and Alberobello, which you can read about here, we drove further down the coast to stay at an Airbnb just outside Ostuni the white city.

I'm not 100% sure how Puglia, a recently undiscovered area of Italy in the south {the heel of the boot} got onto our radar but I think it might have been to do with Jamie Oliver and most probably Instagram. Over the past couple of years I've spotted these white washed trulli, cool conical roofed buildings pop up on my Instagram feed that led me to investigate this area of Italy. Which turned out to be our greatest discovery ever. It's a quiet area of Italy, which has always been a real favourite country of ours, with an almost Greek feel {it's in the Adriatic} which again we love, and it has miles of glorious olive groved countryside edging miles of impressive coastline and beaches. There are white washed, old crumbly towns, incredible incredible food and long hot sunny days yet not really any other tourists! I'm almost reluctant to share this travelogue, it seems like most people who are in the know about Puglia want to keep it their little secret. But equally, it's too dreamy and gorgeous not to share!
