Thursday - Primrose Hill and The Primrose Bakery at Halloween

October 30, 2014

The Primrose Bakery is my favourite cupcake shop in London, I've been there for Valentine's Days, had Birthday cupcakes from there and always love their seasonal displays. This post is a bit of a throwback to a last year at Halloween when Ben and I had an autumnal afternoon wandering around Primrose Hill. Have you been? It's one of my favourite places in London with views of the city ahead of you but with a more village feel about it.

It was freezing so we wrapped up and went for a walk. At weekends you can park for free in most of Westminster. We used to live in Maida Vale and Primrose Hill was somewhere we'd walk to regularly so it's always nice to go back. It's especially pretty at dusk when all the little lights begin to turn on in the park and you can see the skyline illuminating.

If you walk across the park to Regents Park Road you'll find cute independent shops, bars and restaurants. It's really similar to New York's Greenwich Village but more leafy. It's home to a few famous residents, the 'Primrose Hill Set' and I spotted Jools Oliver running once when I used to run around there. Regents Park and London Zoo are at the bottom of the Park and makes for a nice day out in London which is a lot less chaotic than the city.

It's buzzy in the summer with people having picnics and sitting out until late watching the sun set, we always used to take friends who were visiting London to just sit and watch the world go by. But equally autumn is a lovely time to visit with all the falling leaves.

Another highlight is the Primrose Bakery which you can smell before you can see, the smell of baking wafts down the street. It's a cute little bakery with even cuter cupcakes that taste yummy too. They have flavours like Salted Caramel, Apple Crumble and Carrot Cake.

On our way back to the top of the hill and the car we spotted lots of halloween decorations and lusted after the rows of Primrose Hill villas. A lovely afternoon. Now to design my own cupcakes to make for Halloween tomorrow!

  1. Wow! What an amazing article! These decorated cup cakes are looking so cute. Once I attended some cooking NYC events. There were a number of unique cupcakes. They were looking so delicious and pretty.
