Fat Face // Thirty Icons to Celebrate Thirty Years

June 08, 2018

One of my favourite clothing brands, Fatface, turns 30 this summer. And to celebrate, they're bringing out thirty of their most iconic products which they've perfected over the years. From what started out as two guys selling t-shirts on a ski season back in 1988 to becoming one of the UK's most loved brands stores allll across the country. For men, for children and of course for us women, it's about quality, adventures and flattering fits. I was thrilled to be asked to take part in their Birthday celebrations and showcase some of their 30 iconic pieces built with quality, comfort and classic style in mind. I'm sharing some of my favourites below...

Icon #3; The Serena Stripe Dress
For me, this is what Fatface screams most, summer dresses. I think I've bought an updated version at the start of every summer for as long as I can remember. Perfect for English summers, perfect for holidays abroad. This icon has been adjusted, and perfected, slightly over the years but is still recognisable. I've got it in broderie anglaise, I've got it in stripes and I've got it in gingham from previous seasons but this version is particularly iconic - seaside stripes {they also have a gorgeous tropical print which I'm coveting}
It has a flattering fit and adjustable straps that I love along with POCKETS {!} - every dress should have pockets. Size up if you want to tie it in more with the belt around the middle or stick true to size if you prefer it slightly more fitted.

Icon #6; Cassie Broderie Cami
In a pretty, breathable cotton, you can't beat white broderie for the summer to team with denim and a tan. Everyone should have a top like this in their capsule wardrobe and it's still feminine enough for when you want to wear shorts. I find this comes up a little big so size down.

Icon #11; Poppy Broderie Popover
I think you guys most have noted my obsession with broderie by now? And the fact that it goes with anything for pretty much any occasion? This version is a cross between a classic button through shirt and a feminine blouse, for Spring days or slightly overcast Great British Summer days. It's lightweight and would be perfect with jeans or shorts or you could layer it up with a cami underneath or cardi on top. I like the curved hems, stitching details, the pretty button details and the way it sits a little longer at the back than front. True to size.

Icon #16; Organic Cotton Breton T-shirt
The softest cotton I've ever felt! Fatface are known for their iconic bretons but this one is definitely extra soft and has a scooped neck and rounded hem. How do you choose between colours?! If you're like me then you'll have a whole collection in your wardrobe. Navy & white is a classic but I really like this turquoise green version.

Icon #21; Mid Wash Denim Shorts
I don't buy denim shorts lightly. They have to be the perfect wash {always a mid wash for me, not too light and not too dark}, have a rolled up hem, be solid {I hate really thin denim that will wear too quickly} and have good pockets and buttons. I can report back that these fit the bill perfectly. I find they're true to size, and have been buying Fatface Denim - both jeans and shorts, forever. Perfect for all of those summer tops. These come true to size.

Icon #8; Organic Cotton Rose Cardigan
With a marled, rustic feel, this cardigan will keep you warm on a chilly morning or evening without adding bulk. How do you choose a colour though?! I went with navy because this summer alll I want to wear is blue & white but am tempted with the coral too. I always size up with cardigans.

Liberty Lined Leather Tote
And finally, not technically an icon but it totally should be. When Fatface teams up with Liberty London you know it will be a British match made in heaven... This smooth chestnut leather tote will carry you through the seasons. I'm obsessed with the pretty floral lining and the aged leather seams that will last for years and years. Tan bags are always my go to, it just goes with every outfit and this has become my new baby. Whilst I'm obsessed with baskets this summer, I know that this bag will be here for the long run. How classic, grown up and gorgeous?!

All of these iconic pieces are online, and in store, now. More icons will be released this summer.

Are you a fellow Fatface fan?
